On day 2 of our mid-August trip to Walt Disney Wold we visited Hollywood Studios, home to Galaxy's Edge, Toy Story Land, the new Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway and so much more! This park has changed so much over the past few years. It really is an amazing transformation with so many new must do attractions it has become a very popular park. The key to a successful trip to Hollywood Studios ~ get there early and I mean early, have tech savvy family member and 'may the force be with you'~ you'll understand more as you read along.

We arrived at 8:35am via bus from The Contemporary for a 10am opening. We waited at the entrance to the gates maybe 30 minutes, and were through the health checkpoint, security and ticket scanner by 9:14am.

We headed straight to Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway which is located in the iconic Chinese Theatre at the end of Hollywood Blvd. This was our first time riding this attraction and it did not disappoint. It is definitely one of a kind boasting an all new technology of the trackless ride vehicle, 3D animatronics, projection-mapping and the cutest story line. We loved it!

After running amuck with Goofy we headed to Galaxy's Edge, a planet far far away from the rest of Hollywood Studios. This was John's first time on the Planet of Batuu. Being a lifelong Star Wars fan he was super impressed with the immersion of the land. He mentioned it definitely felt like he was no longer in the same park. We took some time just to walk around and see the X-wings and droids and people of Batuu then found a quiet spot to try our luck at a Boarding Pass for Rise of the Resistance.

With a lot of luck and little bit of pixie dust we were successful in snagging a Boarding Group 12 for Rise of the Resistance. Unbelievable is a great description of the ride. And, I say ride ever so lightly, it is an experience. Disney Imagineering completely knocked this one out of the galaxy. If this is any indication of what they have on the horizon, the future of attractions is bright. While in Galaxy's Edge we also encountered Storm Troopers, rode that Hunk of Junk on a Smuggler's Run, did a little shopping for a Lightsaber and just explored. Of course we took in some eats and drinks at Ronto Roasters, Oga's Cantina and Docking Bay 7 in Batuu. Thoroughly enjoyed our time on this planet.

The rest of the day we took in several rides in Toy Story Land, including 4x on Midway Mania. I was determined to beat John.... I won't disclose the final scores, but I was close. We dropped in Tower of Terror and took an insane wild ride on Rocking Roller Coaster (a fave of ours), plus saw so many characters.

We ended the evening with a fabulous dinner at 50s Prime Time Cafe. This place is delicious home cooking meal. Great for a recharge after a busy park day.

Thanks for joining in for a fun filled day at Hollywood Studios. Be sure to check the blog soon for day 3 and Magic Kingdom!
